Jaclyne’s Story
“Grow through what you go through.”
Share your stigma experience.
I was 12 years old when I realized that something was not chemically right with my brain. It wasnt until I was 17 that my family allowed me to be assessed by a primary care provider for depression, after my best friend completed suicide and my first major depressive episode set in.
Even today, at 25 years old, my partner and my parents at times will question my medications and try to tell me other ways that I can “get rid of depression”.
How did you overcome this experience?
I went to my own counseling and became a licensed clinical mental health counselor to help fight the stigma and help those in the rural populations that did not have services.
Help others by sharing a brief, positive message.
