If you are interested in reducing the stigma of mental health and illnesses, supporting others and finding care resources, we invite you to attend an upcoming presentation and/or ambassador training event.
Are you an Iowa resident? Make It OK is supported in Iowa by the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative and they host Make It OK events specifically tailored for Iowans. We encourage all Iowan residents to sign up for the Ambassador trainings available through Make It OK Iowa.
Make It OK to Talk About Mental Health and Illnesses
This one-hour presentation is for the public and those interested in raising awareness and reducing the stigma of mental health and illnesses. Learn about Make It OK, the impact of stigma that prevents people from seeking support and care, available resources and how you can help end the stigma by starting caring and informed conversations and learning what to say and how to offer support.
Make It OK Ambassador Training
This two-hour training is for individuals interested in becoming a Make It OK Ambassador. Throughout the training, participants will be provided with the tools and resources needed to share Make It OK in their communities in any way they choose. Whether by giving presentations, volunteering, raising awareness on social media or engaging in open conversations. After completing the training, participants will be certified as Make It OK Ambassadors. Retraining is optional but encouraged.
Make It OK to Talk About Mental Illnesses and Substance Use Disorders
This one-hour presentation is for the public and those interested in raising awareness of mental health and illness stigma, including the unique stigma surrounding substance use disorders and addiction. Learn about Make It OK, the impact of stigma that prevents people from seeking support and care, available resources and how you can help end the stigma by starting caring and informed conversations and learning what to say and how you can offer support. Presentation is facilitated by HealthPartners Programs for Change licensed professionals.
QPR Suicide Prevention Training (in partnership with NAMI Minnesota)
QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer — The three steps anyone can take to help prevent suicide. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis, and it can save lives. QPR is the most widely taught gatekeeper training program in the United States, and more than one million adults have been trained in classroom settings in 48 states. This 1.5 hour class is for members of the community over the age of 16 who want to learn best practices in suicide prevention.

QPR Suicide Prevention Training for Agricultural Communities (in partnership with NAMI Minnesota)
NAMI Minnesota and the Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health Center (UMASH) are partnering to provide suicide prevention classes tailored to farming communities. Our aim is to change the public perception in agricultural communities and better equip the community to identify and help people who may be having thoughts of suicide. We offer a 1.5 hour suicide prevention program called QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) to help individuals learn the three steps anyone can take to help prevention a suicide. These workshops are made possible by a grant from UMASH.
