Alyssa’s Story
You are beautiful, you do matter, and you are strong and fearless.
Share your stigma experience.
I was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder when I was young, I have always been bullied in school for having autism, and being different from the crowd. This lead to me being diagnosed with depression. My peers would call me mentally retarded and that I would never pass in school for the rest of my life. I have been battling depression for 10 years and still suffer panic attacks from the self doubt.
How did you overcome this experience?
By taking openly about it to a therapist and talking to my best friend about my problems.
I also try to take a walk when ever I feel depressed or phone a friend, and to reassure myself that I’m not battling alone.
