Noelle’s Story
“Just because today seems bad doesn’t mean everyday will be bad.”
Share your stigma experience.
I was diagnosed with anxiety and clinical depression when I was 17 years old. I wasn’t put on medications until I was 27 years old. My family didn’t understand what I was going through because no one in their family talks about mental illness.
How did you overcome this experience?
I don’t know if I’ve overcome this experience but I don’t let it get me down. I’ve learned through talk therapy and from taking medications that there isn’t anything wrong with me. I am different and there isn’t anything wrong with that. I take everyday at a time and tell myself to “keep going, tomorrow is a better day.”
Help others by sharing a brief, positive message.
I know that strength comes from within yourself and sometimes you won’t feel that way. Just because today seems bad doesn’t mean everyday will be bad. I hope that helps some one who has felt as hopeless as I have.
