Katrina’s Story
“Its okay you seek and do treatment, its okay you talk about it.”
Share your stigma experience.
Outside behaviors/words that demonstrate STIGMA such as “you’re so strange, weird”. “It’s our age” created feelings and thoughts of shame, guilt, social anxiety, non acceptance, depression, hopelessness. I did not want to seek help because it was something I was embarrassed about. I did the work to help myself with resources and tools provided. Thank goodness, and Make It Ok! has helped me.
How did you overcome this experience?
2014 I was introduced to Make It Ok! through extensive out-patient mental health treatment for Domestic PTSD, depression, chronic pain, Adult ADHD. I was so ashamed at what I was going through. From family, friends, society I seen first hand how we can create a stigma on something that needs attention and a voice. I remind people and let people know. Yeah, we’re MN we do Make It Ok! And share the website. Thank you, for being here.
