Lily’s story

“I knew there was something a little… off.”

What kind of stigma did you experience/observe?

I have struggled with anxiety and depression for years. Varying symptoms and degrees of these illnesses plagued me throughout high school and beyond, yet I tried to ignore it (almost) the entire time. I knew there was something a little… off. I wasn’t truly happy.

In June of last year, I realized how bad in shape I really was… after a long stint consisting of bad living conditions, social anxiety, and toxic relationships, I decided to try to end my life.

Before I could do it, though, angels came to my rescue. (Not REAL angels, per say… just two very loving friends).

I ended up spending time recovering in a mental health hospital, and I needed every minute of it.

How did you overcome this experience?

Ever since leaving the hospital that summer, I was a new person. I started changing my outcome on life because I realized I only had ONE to live. I am dedicated to helping others achieve self-love, spread kindness, and eliminate mental health stigmas.
